Children’s Mercy is currently offering virtual educational opportunities for families, health care professionals and community professionals in place of our in-person educational trainings. All virtual sessions are free and you must register to attend.

Next Steps after an Autism Diagnosis
This training is intended for any family/caregiver that has recently received an autism diagnosis – or has a diagnosis and has not yet had an opportunity to attend. Discussed will be the criteria for being diagnosed; evidence-based therapies that can help some of the challenges; how to connect with services –to name a few.

Toileting Struggles and Solutions
Toilet Training is a very important developmental milestone, and it often can be harder for children with autism. This training will:
- Review the developmental signs for toilet training readiness
- Identify challenges for children with ASD
- Teach new strategies for children that have been unsuccessful with traditional training methods

Preparing for Puberty & Body Changes in Youth with IDD and Autism addresses the challenges and changes that happen during puberty, the importance of sex education for individuals with special needs, and how to respond to behavioral concerns related to emerging sexuality for individuals with developmental disabilities spanning various ages and level of need. The training is free and virtual, so please share with anyone who might benefit from this information.
