For more than 125 years, Children's Mercy has been dedicated to improving the lives of children and families. What began with the vision of the Berry sisters in 1897 continues today through the people who care for patients, support families, advance research, teach the next generation and strengthen pediatric health care. Our purpose and values provide a shared foundation for how we approach that work every day.

Our purpose

We're here to make it all better.

For every child. For every family. For each other. For the future of pediatric care.

Families often describe Children's Mercy not only by the care they receive, but by how we help make difficult moments better. Better can mean answers, comfort, healing, support, hope or simply knowing someone is there when it matters most. As Children's Mercy continues to grow and evolve, our purpose remains constant and guides the decisions we make, the care we provide and the way we support one another.

Our values

Our values describe how we bring our purpose to life every day.
We build trust through honesty, transparency and curiosity.
We treat children, families and one another with dignity kindness and respect.
We continuously raise the bar because children and families are counting on us.
We move with purpose as needs change and opportunities emerge.
