How to Apply

Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship

Applicants interested in applying for the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship at Children's Mercy must be in their final year of residency training or have completed training in either pediatrics, internal medicine/pediatrics or emergency medicine.  All candidates must have passed Step 3.

The Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship program participates in the NRMP and accepts applications through ERAS. Applications are accepted annually from June through October. Interviews are by invitation and are scheduled from late August through October. Candidates are chosen for interview on the basis of their medical training, general achievements and personal qualities.

Children’s Mercy Hospital primarily accepts international medical graduates for residency and fellowship programs in J-1 visa status.  To be eligible for appointment, all international medical graduates must be sponsored by ECFMG for J-1 non-immigrant classification.  CM will make all reasonable efforts to obtain the requested immigration benefit including the transfer of an existing H1B.  However, we cannot guarantee any specific category of visa or any result, and CM may end or withdraw its sponsorship at any time if sponsorship was no longer feasible due to legitimate business reasons.  CM reserves the right to make final decisions about sponsorship in its discretion and in compliance with U.S. law, regulations, and policy.

Residents/Fellows who wish to change their immigration classification while pursuing a graduate medical training Program at Children's Mercy must seek prior written approval from the GME Department. Failure to seek such approval will subject the trainee to immediate termination from his/her training Program.
