The SF Match process is sponsored by the Thoracic Surgery Directors Association.   All candidates must have passed Step 3 prior to being ranked.

Application Requirements and Details

Each fellow must successfully complete an ACGME-accredited residency and meet other criteria as specified by the ACGME Review Committee.

Applicants must register through SF Match. Completion of the TSDA Congenital Cardiac Surgery Fellowship Universal Application and signed Rules and Regulations agreement is required to be sent directly to the program coordinator, please include three letters of recommendation, one from your current program director and two from other faculty.

Interviews will take place between August and September.

International Candidates

Children’s Mercy Hospital primarily accepts international medical graduates for residency and fellowship programs in J-1 visa status.  To be eligible for appointment, all international medical graduates must be sponsored by ECFMG for J-1 non-immigrant classification.  CM will make all reasonable efforts to obtain the requested immigration benefit including the transfer of an existing H1B.  However, we cannot guarantee any specific category of visa or any result, and CM may end or withdraw its sponsorship at any time if sponsorship was no longer feasible due to legitimate business reasons.  CM reserves the right to make final decisions about sponsorship in its discretion and in compliance with U.S. law, regulations, and policy.
