How to Apply

Allergy and Immunology Fellowship

To be eligible for a fellowship in the Section of Allergy/Immunology at Children's Mercy Kansas City, the applicant must have successfully completed an accredited pediatrics and/or internal medicine training program in the United States.  All candidates must have passed Step 3 prior to being ranked.

Admissions

  • Two trainees accepted each year (medicine, pediatrics, or med-peds)
  • Number of graduates last six years and subsequent career choice: pediatrics: six (academic: three; private: three); medicine: six (academic: one; private: five)

Application Process

All applicants apply through the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS). We participate in the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP). The match takes place in December, six months prior to the start of fellowship. Interviews are by invitation only.

Children’s Mercy Hospital primarily accepts international medical graduates for residency and fellowship programs in J-1 visa status.  To be eligible for appointment, all international medical graduates must be sponsored by ECFMG for J-1 non-immigrant classification.  CM will make all reasonable efforts to obtain the requested immigration benefit including the transfer of an existing H1B.  However, we cannot guarantee any specific category of visa or any result, and CM may end or withdraw its sponsorship at any time if sponsorship was no longer feasible due to legitimate business reasons.  CM reserves the right to make final decisions about sponsorship in its discretion and in compliance with U.S. law, regulations, and policy.

Residents/Fellows who wish to change their immigration classification while pursuing a graduate medical training Program at CMH must seek prior written approval from the GME Department. Failure to seek such approval will subject the trainee to immediate termination from his/her training Program.
