1. What is your current role at CMRI?
As the Research Lab Resources Program Manager, I work closely with the Senior Director of Laboratory Operations, the CMRI Research Development team, and the Biological Safety Officer. I also collaborate with the CMKC Biomedical Engineering team, Receiving team, and CMRI Research Informatics team to ensure the effective installation, utilization, maintenance, and management of CMRI's laboratory resources.
As the manager of the Shared Resources Core, I serve as the primary point of contact for shared research equipment, helping investigators access the resources they need while addressing equipment-related questions, operational challenges, and ongoing support needs. My role focuses on working with colleagues across CMRI to help maintain a well-supported research environment, ensuring researchers have access to the resources, equipment, and services they need to carry out their work effectively.
2. What drew you to a career at CMRI?
CMRI appealed to me because of its commitment to advancing pediatric research and its collaborative culture, where scientists, clinicians, and operational teams work together to accelerate discoveries that can improve children's lives. I was also drawn to CMRI's welcoming and supportive work environment, strong leadership, and commitment to employee development through training, learning opportunities, and career growth. The combination of meaningful work and professional development made CMRI an exciting place to build my career.
3. What are your research/career goals?
My career goal is to continue strengthening the research infrastructure that enables scientists to do their best work. While I am not conducting laboratory research myself, I am passionate about developing and managing the resources, processes, and services that support scientific discovery and innovation across CMRI. I am committed to continuously improving operational efficiency, enhancing researcher support, and contributing to an environment where groundbreaking research can thrive.
4. What is your favorite thing about working at CMRI?
What I enjoy most about working at CMRI is being part of a community that is passionate about improving the lives of children through research. Even though my role is behind the scenes, it's rewarding to know that the resources and support I help provide contribute to the important work being done by our researchers. I also appreciate the collaborative and supportive culture, and the opportunity to work with colleagues who are always willing to help and share their expertise.
5. What is on your bucket list?
1. Visit Japan during cherry blossom season to experience its breathtaking spring scenery, rich culture, and world-renowned cuisine.
2. Continue exploring U.S. national parks and discovering new landscapes, wildlife, and natural wonders across the country.
