Frankie’s Story: Complications of Prematurity


Frankie burst onto the scene at just 25 weeks, 3 days gestation. But the 1.5-pound little guy was a true fighter. In spite of many setbacks, Frankie has overcome each obstacle with the help of his fiercely dedicated family and his medical care teams in Kansas City and Springfield, Mo.

Cameron’s story: Adult Congenital Heart Center


Springfield parents Chris and Kristi traveled all over Missouri to get the care their son Cameron needed for his heart and GI conditions. They’re glad to be able to see his Children’s Mercy cardiology team in their hometown, where Kristi is one of the cardiac sonographers at our clinic.

Julia’s Story: Abdominal Pain Clinic


For two years, Julia fought to understand why eating was so painful. Her team at the Children’s Mercy Abdominal Pain Clinic helped get to the bottom of her digestive issues and develop a plan to fight back against the overactive immune system cells that were attacking her healthy tissues.

McKinley’s Story: Digestive Problems


Softball star McKinley was sidelined by chronic, severe constipation. With the help of her team at the Comprehensive Colorectal Center, McKinley finally found a solution and is back to her healthy, active self.
