Children often experience mixed emotions about going back-to-school.
One child may be excited about the new year and another might think, ‘Oh what a drag.’
Making the transition from the pools to the schools can be difficult. Here are a few tips to help you and your child survive the back-to-school blues:
- Start helping your child adapt to the new schedule by getting your child up early beginning a couple of weeks before the first day of school.
- A little school anxiety and separation fear is normal.
- Talk to your children about their fears, but reinforce how exciting it is for them to start school again.
- Tell them it is normal to be anxious, but do not allow them to focus only on the negative.
- Share your positive school experiences with your child.
- Kids like to hear that mom and dad were once in third grade too.
